This is my first child and we’ve been thinking about having another and was just wondering if I’m going to need to have 2 cribs if my one child isn’t old enough to move to a bed by the time the 2nd is born. My first would probably be around 2 years old when the 2nd is born.

We have one of those cribs that converts to a toddler bed and the toddler bed is basically the crib, with one side removed (so there are three full sides and then one empty side). My daughter keeps rolling out on to the floor and waking up at night. We purchased one of those toddler bed rails from babies r us, but then when we got it home, the directions said you couldnt use it on a toddler bed (only a twin, full, etc). So now we don't know what to do! I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and what they did. Thanks!

Few things are more important the safety of your baby when he or she sleeps. When you tuck your precious bundle into the crib or toddler bed every night, you want to make sure that there is no way that he or she will be harmed during the night. Baby bed rails make it possible to have that confidence that your baby will not be able to get out of the crib.

While the threat of your baby falling out of the crib or toddler bed is not as much of a concern when they are very small, it does become a concern when they are more mobile and stronger. Many people underestimate the strength and abilities of their babies and what they are capable of doing. There are different types and levels of baby bed rails that you can buy to equip your toddler bed or crib with.

The kinds of baby bed rails that are available range greatly in price and stability. Depending on the age of your child, and the mobility of your child, the kind of rails that you select need to completely secure your child in the bed. There are gates that securely fasten to the sides of the bed that protect your child from rolling or getting out of the bed on both sides. These are some of the most secure baby bed rails that you can find. If your child is not as likely to get hurt getting out of bed by themselves, then you may want to opt for the bolster type of rails. The bolsters are soft and securely block the edges of the bed to make sure that your baby will not roll out.

Bolsters are more designed for older toddlers that are able to get out of bed on their own, but may have the tendency to roll off the edge in their sleep. Gated rails and safety rails are designed for babies or young toddlers who cannot get out of the bed or crib by themselves. When you select the baby bed rails that you want to use, make sure you choose the ones that are best made for the age and size of your baby. The kind of rails you buy can also depend upon the height of the bed. If the bed is higher off of the ground you want to make sure that you select more stable and secure rails then if it is only a few inches off the ground. Your baby needs to be safe at all times, and you can protect them when they sleep by using baby rails to keep them protected and free from falling.
